Adriano Viterbini (born 15 August 1979 in Marino, near Rome) is an Italian guitarist, singer and composer who has been a versatile presence on the Roman music scene since 2000 (Source: Wikipedia). He began on piano at age five before switching to electric and acoustic guitar, and in late 2006 formed the duo Bud Spencer Blues Explosion with drummer Cesare Petulicchio — a name combining Italian film actor Bud Spencer with the American punk-blues band the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (Source: Wikipedia). The duo self-produced their debut album "Happy" in 2007 and won the Heineken Jammin' Contest that year, playing the main Heineken Jammin' Festival stage in Mestre and the Open'er Festival in Poland (Source: Wikipedia). Their 2009 self-titled album (Yorpikus Sound) brought a commercial breakthrough after a performance at Rome's "Primo Maggio" (May Day) concert, where the band won the S.I.A.E. Prize at the "Primo Maggio tutto l'anno" contest and launched a US tour (Source: Wikipedia). Further Bud Spencer Blues Explosion albums followed: "Do It" (2011, Yorpikus Sound), "BSB3" (2014, 42Records), "Vivi Muori Blues Ripeti" (2018) and "Next Big Niente" (2023, both La Tempesta Dischi); the band competed at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2012 and played Hungary's Sziget Festival the same year, and Viterbini won the KeepOn 100% Live award for best live musician in 2011 (Source: Wikipedia). Alongside the duo, he released solo instrumental albums "Goldfoil" (2013, Bomba Dischi) and "Film O Sound" (2015), founded the roots-rock trio Black Friday with Luca Sapio (album "Hard Times," 2010), co-founded I Hate My Village in 2019 with Fabio Rondanini (Calibro 35, Afterhours), Alberto Ferrari (Verdena) and Marco Fasolo (Jennifer Gentle), and formed the experimental trio ON with Riccardo Sinigallia and Ice One in 2021 (Source: Wikipedia). As a session and touring guitarist he has worked with Raf ("Metamorfosi," 2008), jazz bassist Enzo Pietropaoli ("Futuro Primitivo," 2013), Niger's Bombino on the 2014 "Nomad Tour," Malian singer Rokia Traoré on her "Né So" tour, Nic Cester (opening for Kasabian and Muse), Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Jovanotti, and Ry Cooder's son Joachim Cooder, with whom he performed live in Rivalta, Italy, in July 2025 (Source: Wikipedia; YouTube). His playing draws on Delta and desert blues, rock-funk and Afrobeat, and he cites Ry Cooder, Blind Willie Johnson, Tinariwen and Rage Against the Machine among his influences (Source: Wikipedia).

Musical Influence

A restless multi-instrumentalist who moved fluidly between blues rock, desert blues and alternative rock, Viterbini carried Delta- and Sahara-inflected blues idioms into the mainstream Italian rock scene through Bud Spencer Blues Explosion, I Hate My Village and session work spanning Bombino to Jovanotti (Source: Wikipedia).
