Aynsley Lister was born on 14 November 1976 in Leicester, England, and started playing guitar at eight, learning by playing along to his father's old 45s of Freddie King, John Mayall and Eric Clapton (Source: Wikipedia). He played his first bar-band concert at thirteen, and by eighteen had formed his own band, recording two albums, "Messin' With The Kid" (1996) and "Pay Attention!" (1997).\n\nThose early self-penned songs caught the attention of Ruf Records owner Thomas Ruf in 1998, who signed Lister immediately and paired him with producer Jim Gaines, who had worked with Stevie Ray Vaughan (Source: Wikipedia). His album "Equilibrium" featured guest musicians Robbie McIntosh, Paul Beavis and Simon Johnson, and his live album "Tower Sessions" followed in 2010. His most recent album, "Along for the Ride" (2022), received widespread critical acclaim for its elegant guitar solos and sophisticated songwriting (Source: aynsleylister.co.uk).\n\nIn August 2014 Lister won British Blues Awards for Best Songwriter and Best Song (for "Home"), and was runner-up for Best Guitarist, Best Male Vocalist and Best Album. In 2015 he won Best Guitarist outright. A British Blues Award winner and Classic Rock Top 50 artist, he has shared stages with Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top and Buddy Guy (Source: allaboutbluesmusic.com; Wikipedia).

Musical Influence

Paired as a teenager with Jim Gaines, the producer behind Stevie Ray Vaughan's classic records, Aynsley Lister has spent three decades building a body of work that treats songwriting craft as equal to guitar technique — an approach reflected in his British Blues Award wins for both Best Songwriter and Best Guitarist rather than one alone.
