After 35 years touring the world — the US, Canada, Japan, Latin America, Europe, India — and 28 years leading the celebrated French group Awek, known for orthodox Texas blues and West Coast rhythm & blues, Bernard Sellam formed Bernard Sellam & The Boyz from The Hood (Source: paris-move.com; bluztrack-productions.com). Designed explicitly for the stage and for dancing, the band works the pure swing and rhythm & blues tradition of the 1950s with a genuine vintage feel, delivered by five professional musicians: Sellam on vocals and guitar, Eric "Church" Léglise on bass and vocals, Julien Bigey on drums, and a horn section of Franck Mottin (tenor sax) and Manu Lochin (baritone sax) (Source: paris-move.com). Their 2023 album "Feelin' So Fine," released on Bluztrack Productions, contains fifteen tracks split between Sellam's own compositions and covers of Roy Milton, ZZ Hill, Gatemouth Brown and T-Bone Walker (Source: lahoradelblues.com).

Musical Influence

With nearly three decades leading Awek behind him, Sellam is one of the elder statesmen of French blues, and The Boyz from The Hood keep a pure, dance-oriented jump blues and swing tradition alive on the contemporary French club circuit (Source: paris-move.com).
