Blue Deal was founded in 2015 by vocalist/keyboardist Joe Fischer and drummer Jürgen Schneckenburger in Germany's Southern Black Forest, with a rotating line-up until today's formation settled in summer 2020 (Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Deal; worldofsound.bar). Fischer already had nearly 25 years behind him as frontman of the Cadillac Blues Band, which toured Europe and the USA until 2014, including a particularly memorable 1996 tour (Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Deal; dixiefrog.com). Guitarist Tom Vela joined in 2020 and has since been described as one of the leading guitarists of what's called Germany's "New Blues Generation" (Source: blue-deal.com). The bass chair has changed hands several times — N. Grille Roth (2020–2022), then Martin Bürger (2022–2024) — before Willi Macht took over in late 2024 (Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Deal). The band calls its own genre "Southern Black Forest Blues Rock," a blend of blues tradition, rock attitude and contemporary themes (Source: blue-deal.com; worldofsound.bar). Debut album "Holy Ground" arrived on 16 September 2022, entirely self-produced, and drew significant international attention in the blues and rock press (Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Deal). In 2023 Blue Deal won the German Blues Challenge in the Band category, sending them on to the European Blues Challenge in Braga, Portugal, and to the semi-finals of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January 2024 (Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Deal; blue-deal.com). The second album, "Can't Kill Me Twice" (2023, self-released; re-released via French label Dixiefrog in 2024), won the German Blues Award for Best Album in 2024 (Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Deal; blue-deal.com). The third album, "Make A Change," arrived on 10 October 2025 on Dixiefrog, with eleven original compositions, and the label itself called it "a resounding success combining masterful musicianship with an authentic emotional core" (Source: dixiefrog.com).

Musical Influence

In just five years, from the 2015 founding to today's line-up settling in 2020, Blue Deal has gone from a local Black Forest project to representing Germany in Memphis — a trajectory that underlines how quickly a band with the right mix of experience (Joe Fischer's nearly 25 years with the Cadillac Blues Band) and fresh energy (Tom Vela's guitar work) can build an international profile (Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Deal). Their deal with French label Dixiefrog for "Can't Kill Me Twice" and "Make A Change" places them in an international blues network beyond Germany, and the Best Album win at the 2024 German Blues Award cements their standing as one of the more promising contemporary names in German blues-rock (Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Deal; dixiefrog.com).
