The Leif de Leeuw Band is a Dutch group built around guitarist Leif de Leeuw, who has been named the Benelux region's best blues-rock guitarist nine times running (Source: leifdeleeuw.com). The band describes itself as one of Europe's finest southern jam bands, blending rock, blues, Americana, country and southern rock with a 1970s-rooted sound built on improvisation and storytelling. Lead vocalist Sem Jansen, known for a distinctive raspy voice, won the Dutch television talent show "Hit the Road" (Source: leifdeleeuw.com). The band's current musical direction crystallized during an extensive Allman Brothers Band tribute tour across the Netherlands and Europe in 2018 and 2019, which shaped the group into the current six-piece lineup: two drummers, Hammond organ, bass and two electric guitars alongside lead vocals. The band has earned SENA Guitar Awards in 2009 and 2013, competed in the Dutch Blues Challenge in 2014, and represented the Netherlands at the European Blues Challenge in Brussels in 2015 (Source: leifdeleeuw.com; Discogs). Their discography includes "EP Deluxe" (2014), "Leelah" (2016), "Until Better Times" (2017), the live album "Live In Concert" (2018), the tribute album "Plays The Allman Brothers Band" (2019, followed by "Volume II" in 2026), "Where We're Heading" (2020), "Mighty Fine" (2024), "The Edge" (2025, on Coast to Coast) and the single "Charade Man / Who Is Who" (2025, on Havik Records). The band remains a heavy touring act on the European club and festival circuit.

Musical Influence

Leif de Leeuw has carried the southern-rock-infused strand of Dutch blues to European festival and club stages, using an Allman Brothers Band tribute tour as a launching pad for the band's own distinctive sound (Source: leifdeleeuw.com).
