Mauro Ferrarese (born 1960 in Trento) is an Italian singer and guitarist devoted to acoustic country blues, folk and prewar spirituals, describing his own style as «Agricultural Blues» — blues rooted in the most rural, unplugged tradition (Source: Roots Highway; Blues & Blues). Playing acoustic and resonator/dobro guitar with a strong bottleneck technique, he draws his repertoire from 1920s-30s country blues recordings, work songs, spirituals and ballads, alongside original compositions reflecting his own life (Source: Bloos Records; Roots Highway). He released his debut album, «Big Road Blues», in 1999, followed by «Blues an' Other Stories» (2004), «The Red Wine Tapes» (2007), «Flesh & Wood» (2008) and «Wounds, Wine and Words» (2010, recorded at his home) (Source: Bloos Records; Roots Highway). Alongside his solo career he has led or joined several collaborative projects, including the Red Wine Serenaders («D.O.C.», 2011), Reverend and the Lady («Tracks From The Ol' Station», 2012; «Chapter Two», 2013; «Rust and Lust», 2015) and Sacred Roots («Sacred Roots», 2016; «Dancin' The Blues», 2017) (Source: Bloos Records). He has performed alongside American blues figures including Mavis Staples (2005) and John Hammond Jr. (2013), and was a finalist at the 9th Italian Blues Challenge in 2018 (Source: Bloos Records; Italian Blues Union). Ferrarese has played nearly every major Italian blues festival plus dates in Switzerland (including the Blues To Bop festival, 2008), France, the United Kingdom and Denmark (Source: The Soundcheck). More recent solo albums include «Still Walkin'» (2021, Trulletto Records), «Half & Half» (2023) and «Echoes 'long The Path» (2025, Bloos Records) (Source: Bandcamp; Bloos Records). He continues to perform regularly in Italy, including frequent duo shows with guitarist Max De Bernardi and harmonica player Marco Pandolfi (Source: YouTube/Bluessuria).

Musical Influence

One of the leading voices of acoustic, prewar-style country blues on the Italian scene, Ferrarese has represented Italy at the national Blues Challenge and carried the acoustic tradition to festival stages across Italy, Switzerland, France, the UK and Denmark (Source: Italian Blues Union; The Soundcheck).
