Mike Andersen

Also known as: Mike Andersen Band

Born: 25 February 1977, Rodekro, Denmark• Denmark• Active: 1997-present

Danish blues-soul road warrior - 2,000+ shows, 5 Danish Music Awards, a Joss Stone duet.

Mike Andersen has spent nearly three decades turning a Rodekro teenager's obsession with Lightnin' Hopkins and B.B. King records into one of Denmark's most durable live blues careers — over 2,000 concerts across more than 20 countries. Born Mikkel Dybdal Andersen on 25 February 1977 in Rodekro, Denmark, he started playing guitar at 12 and formed the Mike Andersen Band at 22 in Aarhus, opening his professional career with the 2002 debut My Love for the Blues (Kilde: mikeandersen.com; Wikipedia). Early tours brought opening slots for the Fabulous Thunderbirds and B.B. King, whom he supported three times. His 2010 album Echoes, mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Russell Elevado, became his commercial breakthrough and was named Album of the Week on Danish national radio DR P4 (Kilde: mikeandersen.com). In 2017 his album Devil Is Back, partly written in Nashville, featured the duet "This Time" with British soul singer Joss Stone (Kilde: withguitars.com; YouTube). His 2019 acoustic, live-to-tape album One Million Miles reached number one on the Danish vinyl chart, and his tenth studio album, All Out Of Love, produced with Christian Ki, followed in 2025 (Kilde: mikeandersen.com). Across his career Andersen has won five Danish Music Awards, including Best Blues Album for Home in 2015 and both Best Danish Release and Live Performer of the Year in 2022 (Kilde: bluesnews.dk; mikeandersen.com).

Musical Influence

Andersen's standing rests on scale and consistency — five Danish Music Awards and more than 2,000 shows in over 20 countries make him one of the most road-tested blues artists Denmark has produced, and the Joss Stone duet on Devil Is Back briefly carried Danish blues onto an international soul audience's radar (Kilde: mikeandersen.com; withguitars.com).
