Sebastian Riedel, born 2 March 1978 in Tychy as the son of Dżem vocalist Ryszard Riedel, started his own band at just 15, in 1993, together with Sylwester Kramak and Adrian Fuchs (Source: pl.wikipedia.org). The name Cree actually came from his father — Ryszard Riedel was fascinated by Native American history and suggested the name for his son's newly formed band, long before Sebastian himself would become Dżem's vocalist (Source: agencjaluxart.com; pl.wikipedia.org — "Cree (zespół muzyczny)"). The original lineup was Sebastian Riedel (vocals, guitar), Dariusz Sarna (bass), Marek Gruszka (guitar), Adrian Fuchs (percussion) and Krzysztof Głuch (piano); in 2004 drummer Tomek Kwiatkowski took over from Fuchs, and Adam Lomania joined on keyboards (Source: pl.wikipedia.org). The debut album "Cree" came in 1998, followed by "Za tych..." in 2002, named Blues Album of the Year by Twój Blues magazine (Source: agencjaluxart.com). The discography continues with "Parę lat" (2004), "Tacy sami" (2007), "15 Cree" (2010), "Diabli nadali" (2012), "Wyjdź..." (2013) and "Heartbreaker" (2015), through to the most recent album "Zawsze z wami" (2024) (Source: pl.wikipedia.org). The band performed at the Sopot TOPtrendy festival in 2013 and received an audience award from radio station RMF MAXXX (Source: agencjaluxart.com). Cree also performs a dedicated tribute program, "Wspomnienie o Ryszardzie Riedlu" (A Memory of Ryszard Riedel), in honor of Sebastian's father (Source: nck.krakow.pl). In January 2024, Sebastian Riedel announced he was also becoming the new vocalist of Dżem — an entirely separate story from Cree's own work, which continues in parallel (Source: pl.wikipedia.org). He is married to Gabriela and has four sons: Samuel (b. 2001), Ryszard (b. 2006), and twins Maksymilian and Błażej (Source: pl.wikipedia.org).

Musical Influence

Cree has given Sebastian Riedel a more than 30-year independent career as a songwriter and blues-rock vocalist, separate from his father's legacy at Dżem — credibility that made his 2024 move to Dżem's microphone possible without it reading as a purely nostalgic project (Source: pl.wikipedia.org; agencjaluxart.com). Blues Top 2024 ranked Sebastian Riedel Poland's 4th best male vocalist (Source: twojblues.com/blues.pl Blues Top rankings).

Stories & Anecdotes
