Tiger City Jukes was formed in Horten, Norway in 1995 by Knut Eide and Harald Stokke, setting out to "create a sound of their own" beyond straightforward blues (Source: official site). The band recorded six albums between 1997 and 2019, moving from blues-rooted material toward darker, more experimental territory that one reviewer described as sitting "somewhere in between The Doors and Kurt Weill" (Source: official site). They toured Florida in 1999 and have played regularly across Norway, Europe and the USA since forming (Source: Norwegian Wikipedia). Original bassist André Vrolijk died in 2008; Atle Rakvaag joined on bass the following year, and the band has built its reputation chiefly as a high-energy live act, documented on the 2002 live album "Dressed To Kill" and the 2019 concert film "Live i Artilleriverkstedet," recorded at Horten's old naval artillery workshop with an expanded nine-piece lineup (Source: official site; Norwegian Wikipedia). The current touring quartet is Knut Eide (lead vocals, guitar), Harald Stokke (guitar, backing vocals), Atle Rakvaag (bass, backing vocals) and Espen Moen (drums) (Source: official site).

Musical Influence

Tiger City Jukes has spent three decades pushing Norwegian blues toward darker, genre-blending rock territory while staying rooted in the live-band tradition, becoming one of the country's longest-running touring blues-rock acts (Source: official site).
